Dear Bhavu Didi, 🌸
Happy Birthday! 🎂 Aaje tara mate ek nano gift banavyo che, in the only language I know best: code. Pan aa letter ma code nathi, just dil ni vaat. So read it slowly, okay?
Do you remember how it all started? We met in college through friends. Just another name in the group. Then we did one project together, and somewhere between the bugs and the deadlines, the vibe just matched. Kone khabar hati ke ek project pachi mane life-time mate ek Didi mali jashe?
On your birthday in 2022, all I sent was "Happy birthday 🥳" and you replied "😂😂 Thank you 🌈". So formal! And I told you "apdu baki rakh j", so yes, you still owe me that party. I haven't forgotten. 😤
One year later it was "bhavuu" and "dhruu". And then we spent your whole birthday sending "hahah", "hehe", "hoho", "hihi" to each other for fourteen hours. Normal people don't do that. We did. 😂
Then came 11 December 2023. You kept calling me "bhai", and I finally told you it made me want to call you "didi". The next night I nervously asked, "kyarek didi kahu to halse?" And you said, "arre dodse, moj karne tu bhai… hve formality toh na kar, ganda." I still smile every time I read that. Best "yes" of my life. 🧿
A few days later I asked you to trust that whatever we talk about stays between us, and you said "e tare kevu pan na pade bhai". You told me "mari side thi kyarey evu nai thai" and "ben maan toh haq thi kevanu". Didi, you kept every one of those words. Every single one.
We're not related by blood, but you've done everything a real sister does, and honestly more. When I got a backlog, you said "thai jase, badha ne aave engineering ma". When I was about to give up, you said "Dhrumit, aapde etla easily give up karva vada ma thi nathi." When I failed, you said "fail thavu life no part che, himmat rakh khali." I don't think you know how many times those lines saved me.
On my birthday in 2024 you had fever, and you still wished me in advance just so you wouldn't miss it. Who does that? A didi does. 🥹
You know everything about my life: what happened, what's going on, what's going to happen, the good parts and the embarrassing ones too. There's no one else I can tell everything to without thinking twice.
The only thing I hate is the distance. If it wasn't there, I'd meet you regularly, sit with you, eat something together, and tell you everything face to face instead of typing it at 1 AM. I miss you a lot, Didi. Every single day. But 80,575 messages and 584 good nights later, I know one thing for sure: distance can't change what we have.
And now you've found Jiju, and I'm so, so happy for you. 💍 Bas ek vaat yaad rakhje: no matter what changes, your bhai is always here. Same seat, same vaido, same target for "jaa ne vayda". 😌
Thank you for staying. For scolding me. For motivating me. For every "chinta na kar" and every "sleep well, love you bhai". I'm so grateful God gave me you, even if He forgot to make us siblings by blood. I love you, Didi, and I always will.
Next time we meet, aapde ghanaa badha photos padvana che (and you're paying for the party 🍕). Promise? 🤝
May Ganpati Bappa bless you with all the happiness, health and success in the world. Mast khush re, ane jalsa kar. 🌸
Taro vaido bhai,
Dhrumit (your Dhuli) 🫶🏻
P.S. Sleep well & love you didi 🤍💫
